AMAZON LODGES
Sacha Lodge: located in the Sucumbios province up in the north basin of the Amazon. Arriving at the nearest airport in Coca city the adventure starts after lunch when visitors embark down the river in a journey that will take them to the lodge’s property.
Excursions include visiting “Pilchicocha” lagoon for a swim or bird watching, then a visit to the butterfly greenhouse, “Liana Chica” and “Lagartococha” trails, canopy activities, boat excursion through the Napo River, the “dwende” forest, and hiking activities along with a tour expert that will lead visitors to the most curious secrets of the jungle.
In the canopy activities, visitors will be taken several meters up so they can enjoy amazing landscapes of the Amazon and also take the best pictures of the Amazonian birds. Along the excursion, there are chances to see anacondas, capybaras, caimans, capuchin and squirrel monkeys, razor-tooth piranhas and the chance to know more about fishing in-river techniques.
The accommodation includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Casa del Suizo: from a 5-hour drive from Quito descending into the Amazon the “the Swiss House” Lodge is located. The place is a great opportunity to disconnect from the world, surrounded by green rainforest plants will be the perfect connection with nature.
Days start with a replenishing fresh breakfast to go in boat ride through the Amazonian rainforest, downstream in the Napo River. Arriving in “Misahualli” which is a small swimming spot with white sand surrounded by trees. It is also a small town with local food restaurants, and smalls shops for visitors to enjoy.
Other excursions can be hired to go on hikes in nearby trails, paddle canoes, try local food that feature local Amazonian products, visit tribes that will share their culture and traditions.
There is a visit to “Arajuno” town and a visit the AmaZoonico Reserve which is a rescue center that works along the Environmental Ministry and has helped to the re-introduction to several animals such as monkeys, parrots, caimans, frogs, armadillos, tapirs, pumas, leopards and many more.
