TROPICAL HACIENDA

The agriculture in the coast is very different from the agricultural activities in the highlands.  That is why the haciendas are a great place to learn more about exportation products, that are grown in great-scale productions.

Products such as bananas, sugarcane, cocoa, and coffee are cultivated in the flat lands of the coastal region.  Most of these are used as primary products and then processes into other goods such as sugar and chocolate.

Ecuadorian chocolate is one of the highest quality chocolate in the world and has been sold in exclusive international markets where the quality is appreciated.  It is a good tour to see how the cocoa is grown and cared for, as well as the agricultural techniques to maintain the quality.

Moreover, it is a great opportunity to learn about the people who keep the haciendas and their customs.  Besides offering great agricultural input, they also share their daily customs and delicious food.
