FUR SEAL

On the western islands of the Galapagos is where fur seals can be found as an endemic species.  They are smaller than sea lions, have ears, and their coats are somewhat furrier and grayish.  Their big eyes help them when hunting squid and looking for food in the ocean.  They are also night hunters which helps them to avoid natural predators.

During the day they rest and stay away from the sun by sleeping between rocks or inside caves.  By night, they dive between 10m to 50m to feed on fish.  Inland they live in territories, created by females to protect their pups.

Our itineraries A, B and C sail through routes where fur seals can be seen in the Galapagos Legend and the Corals.
