The cloud forests of Mindo, located two-hour drive from Quito, has been a world acclaimed for its natural diversity.   This unique humid forest is a protected zone and it is home to unique species that have adapted perfectly to the local micro-climate.

The town locals are very friendly and there are several activities to do in the surrounding of the main square center.

The exuberant nature of the place is what attracts visitors, its ecosystem is formed by 500 different species of birds and 90 butterfly-species.   It is also famous among birdwatchers, who love to come to the forest to get the perfect photo shots of endemic birds such as the 37 species of hummingbirds.

Orchids also grow in the zone and have taken advantage of the semi-humid climate making 170 different varieties that can be spotted along the way.

It is one of the best places to travel to enjoy adventure activities such as canopy, biking, kayaking, rafting, tubing, and other water sports.  Hikes are encouraged through moss-ridden forests and to take some time to relax by the river which is also a great opportunity to get in touch with the local nature.
