NAZCA BOOBY

The Nazca booby is one of the biggest of the boobies in the Galapagos.  It has white plumage almost in all its body, except by the tips of the wings and around the eyes and beak.  Their primary source of diet is small fish and sardines.  However, due to climate and current changes they have adapted to eat flying fish as well.

They breed all year round, their nest is on the ground on cliff areas, and they will take care of two chicks.  Sadly, only one chick survives; the strongest chick will push out of the nest the weakest one to ensure survival.  They are very adaptive seabirds.

All our itineraries in the Galapagos Legend and the Corals are a great opportunity to see Nazca boobies.
