RED-FOOTED BOOBY

These are the smallest of the boobies, and they peculiar red legs and feet contrast with their pale pink and blue at the base of their beaks.  One of the biggest colonies of red-footed boobies is located in Genovesa island, where they live in large colonies and breed in small shrubs.  They never fly too far from their nest nor migrate.

They feed on plunging vertically to the ocean water to pray on fish and squid, but they are also very agile when catching flying fish.  They hunt in flocks and, as the blue-footed booby, they can manage swimming and diving due to their webbed feet.

They can be seen in itineraries A and C of the Galapagos Legend and the Corals.
