GALAPAGOS BROWN PELICAN

Pelicans are easily recognized by their long bills, brown plumage, and long white necks.  They can be found all around the islands and are sociable creatures that can be mainly found in fish markets and ports.  Their wingspan is 90 inches and are very graceful fliers.  To get food, they plunge into the water to fill their beak pouch with fish and water.  They will filter out the water holding onto the fish.

Their nesting sites are mainly mangroves and salt bushes.  They breed throughout the year, and juveniles are taken care by both parents.
